We engaged the services of The Helicopter Centre in Palma to distribute presents to Port Adriano, Pantalan del Mediterraneo and others as quickly as possible. Thanks to all for their cooperation! We hope you enjoy watching this as much as we enjoyed making it, we had a BLAST 💥 And don’t forget… “In 1850 ESTELA Shipping opened in the Balearics to help captains and owners solve problems. Today, ESTELA’s crack team of professionals are wanted by captains everywhere, surviving as agents of fortune. Whatever you need, from bunkering, formalities, provisions or delivering Christmas gifts, if you have a problem and if you know where to find them….maybe you can hire The E-Team.”
(Updated 14th November, 2022) The transatlantic yachting season is here and crew recruitment remains hot. The Med season has seen a shortage of experienced crew, so those with B1/B2 visas are in especially great demand right now. If you don’t have yours already and are hoping to winter in the Americas, West Indies and the Caribbean, here’s what you need to know… The ‘B1/B2’ visa Non-immigrant visas for entering US territory temporarily are classified ‘B-1’ for business, ‘B-2’ for pleasure, or ‘B-1/B-2’ for a combination of both. Valid for up to 10 years for stays of up to six months, it is not specifically designed for yacht crew, but it is the most appropriate class of visa for the industry, says the US State Department. NB. DO NOT apply for the C-1 crewmember visa, as this is designed for other seafarers. Work restrictions Following a COVID-era tweak to the rules, non-US crew can work on foreign or US-flagged yachts in US waters, though NOT employed directly by a US employer or on a US-registered payroll. US taxation laws for foreign nationals are a world of pain anyway, so this is always best avoided in any case. Note that working, or […]
It’s been an unusual and hectic couple of years since we last printed ‘The Y’, so we’re delighted to be able to announce the launch of the 2022/23 edition! Chances are that you already know ‘The Y Yachting Itineraries’, so you will be familiar with the format. In each edition we suggest different destinations to visit by yacht, with ideas for things to see and do while you’re there, and the best places to eat. And even if a destination is somewhere you’ve visited before or it’s somewhere new, we guarantee we’ll show you things you didn’t already know. Hard copies will be available in the coming days, but in the meantime, the complete book is available online >>> here We have dubbed this book the ‘Art Edition’, inspired by Málaga, the birthplace of Pablo Picasso, and Costa Brava, which Salvador Dalí called home. Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca, meanwhile, were home to Joan Miró, completing our trifecta of Spanish modern masters. We revisit Lanzarote and the Canary Islands, which are attracting strong interest from charterers, while by popular demand, we conclude this edition with a deep dive on The Bahamas. Remember, wherever you’re heading this season, ESTELA is on […]
Last month, ESTELA took a group of captains, brokers and industry guests to Lanzarote, to discover the island as a cruising destination. It’s fair to say that they found it an eye-opening experience. Watch: https://youtu.be/Th1tJZizFzk The trip was organised in partnership with Lanzarote Tourism and Lanzarote Superyacht Destination, taking in the spectacular sights and taste of the island, as well as its marinas and yard facilities. It was the second event hosted by ESTELA, promoting Lanzarote as a superyacht destination, following our themed ‘End of Season Dinner’ in October of last year. Lanzarote will again feature in the forthcoming edition of ‘The Y Yachting Itineraries 2022/23’, to be published next month.

You thought we couldn’t top last year’s ‘Back To The 60s’ extravaganza? Wrong! On Friday, October 5th from 8pm, we will again be taking over the Crew Bar in Port Adriano for a fun-filled night of live music, food and ‘refreshments’, as we ditch our uniforms and let our hair down. As we all love those celebrity clients with their crazy demands, crazy fashion and cosmetic surgery, we’re inviting you to do your creative best and put yourselves in their shoes for one night. Raid your wardrobes, party store or local charity shop and wow us with your funniest fancy dress celebrity outfit (easy, if you’re doing Ron Jeremy…). Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes on the night, so don’t hold back! Return transport will be provided from STP and Club de Mar to Port Adriano, so we really hope you’ll be able to join us. Just tell us the name of the boat and number of guests needing transport. Pick-up from STP will be at 19:30, and opposite Club de Mar outside our office (Av Gabriel Roca 37) at 19:45.
