Estela’s third Superyachts Poker Tournament at Palma Casino was another fun night of Texas Hold ‘Em, with some 40 entrants playing hard until late into the night, for some €2000 in prize money. The winner walked off with over €1000, while another beneficiary was the humanitarian charity, Yacht Aid Global. 15% of the total prize fund was again donated to this highly effective organisation, though the proceeds were on this occasion re-directed to the local cause of Mallorcan skipper Xisco Prieto, hospitalised in an unprovoked attack in San Remo. Xisco’s family are raising funds for a medical flight home, as his insurance won’t cover the cost of his repatriation. Our thanks go to Capt Tim Forderer of Yacht Aid Global, who promptly offered to donate all charitable proceeds towards Xisco’s repatriation. If you would like to help Xisco’s family bring him home, you can donate via this link. As we go to press, the total raised is still €2,000 short of their €25,000 goal, so any donation will be hugely appreciated. If you would like to help Yacht Aid Global and support its humanitarian initiatives around the globe, you can do so via this link. Thanks also go to our sponsors for […]

Dear Friends, As ambassadors for Yacht Aid Global in Mallorca, our third Superyacht Poker Tournament in Palma Casino tonight was again set to benefit this fantastic charity, with 15% of the total pot donated to the cause. However, like many of you, we were taken by the cause of Xisco Prieto, the Mallorcan skipper who is currently in a coma in hospital in San Remo, after being attacked on his way back to the boat on 23 September. As his insurance won’t cover the cost of his repatriation to Mallorca, Xisco’s family is fundraising to get him home. We told Capt Tim Forderer of Yacht Aid Global about this local cause, who immediately offered to donate all charitable proceeds towards Xisco’s repatriation. We would like to thank Tim and Yacht Aid Global for this magnanimous gesture. Hopefully this is even more reason for you to join us tonight for a fun evening of Texas Hold’em, while raising money for this worthwhile cause. And if you can’t join us tonight, you can donate towards Xisco’s flight here https://www.gofundme.com/xisco039s-road-to-recovery, while you can donate to Yacht Aid Global here http://yachtaidglobal.org/donate-now. Thanks again to Yacht Aid Global for their generosity of spirit and we look forward to […]
The requirements for visiting, or working in, US territories have changed significantly since the end of last season and yacht crew have increasingly seen their B1/B2 visa applications denied. As the only yacht consignatory agents in Palma de Mallorca, we have a track record for dealing efficiently with immigration and port authorities. Our expertise is not limited to the Balearics and we have been busy assisting captains and crew travelling across to the US for the winter season in obtaining their B1/B2 visas. US Customs and Border Protection paperwork has never been straightforward and there are a number of new pitfalls to steer clear of, to avoid delays in obtaining the right visa. If you need help with your application, email us at palma@superyachts.agency or telephone Kristy Hollingsworth on +34 619 655 955.
Cruising to Monaco next week for the #MonacoYachtShow? Any yachts sailing from Spain or the Balearics to the non-EU waters of Monaco need to obtain clearance to exit the EU from border authorities for immigration purposes. Upon return, documentation must likewise be presented in order re-enter. Likewise, if your boat is heading to the Caribbean this winter, or anywhere else outside the EU, don’t forget that you must clear out before you depart! Contact us at Estela to prepare and submit your docs, at estela@superyacht.agency
We have moved! From today, Estela Shipping can be found at the same postal address, same building, but 30 seconds around the corner, in Carrer Pedrera, 07014 Palma.

Mallorca’s pioneering superyacht agency is thriving and growing, as Palma becomes an ever larger hub for yachts based in, or visiting, the western Mediterranean. In response to ever-increasing demand, Estela Superyacht Agency is now pleased to announce the opening of its new office in STP, Palma’s state-of-the-art service, refit and repair facility. From September, the STP office will be staffed from 09:00-12:00hrs, or by appointment. Estela, Palma’s first superyacht agency, provides concierge services and technical support to superyachts visiting the Balearic Islands, including provisioning, berth booking, fuelling, flowers, recruitment, car hire and transfers, events and entertainment, itineraries, engineering services and anything else that superyacht captains and guests require in destination. “The STP office is in operation, but will be formally inaugurated at our annual End of Season party later this year”, says senior yacht consultant, Francesco Gennai. “The new base is a boon for captains and crew needing to complete immigration or customs procedures, or requiring support with technical and engineering services, including fuelling, on-board water and sanitary analyses.” The office makes Estela the only consignatory agent in STP, being on-hand to complete port and police formalities, such as transit visas, on behalf of vessels and crew. “Time is often […]
Palma, July 23rd, 2018 Last week saw the arrival and beginning of the assembly works of the new 1000 ton travelift that STP Shipyard Palma will commission at the end of summer 2018. In the coming days a total of 24 trucks will be used to offload the sections in STP Shipyard Palma, all of which originate from Carmignano di Brenta in Italy, and are accompanied by a team of specialists from the factory who will oversee the assembly and commissioning of the new lift. The new travelift will be the largest of its kind in Europe both in lifting capacity and dimensions. The lift measures in at 26 mts long, 12,5 mts wide and 25 metres high with a lifting capacity of a 1000 tons. STP will now have the capacity to lift motor yachts of up to 57 metres in length and sailboats of up to 67 metres LOA, with a maximum beam of 12 metres for both. For certain yachts this has the added advantage of not having to remove their stays when being hauled out. The new lift operates 32 hydraulically powered wheels being powered off two 286 Hp Volvo engines and controlled by […]
The Twitter feed of the Balearic Islands’ Ministry of Agriculture, the Environment and Regional Planning (CAIB) has been working overtime the past few weeks. The Ministry tracks, names and shames yachts that fall foul of the area’s strict anchoring laws, designed to protect the environment. Posidonia seagrass is considered to be the world’s oldest organism, at some 100,000 years old, and is responsible for the beautiful, turquoise waters that we all love so much. The Balearics boasts the largest Posidonia reef anywhere in the Mediterranean, so the local authorities are, rightly, very protective of this wonder of nature. Aware that private boat owners are mostly affluent individuals or corporations, fines for anchoring on Posidonia can be truly eye-watering, while the ultimate sanction for the most egregious offenders can include a custodial sentence! The good news is that any fine or sanction is entirely avoidable. As Balearic experts, Estela Shipping keep abreast of local rules and regulations, ensuring that our client Captains know to avoid anchoring in forbidden locations. So much so, our annual superyacht handbook, ‘The Y’ 2018/19, contains an entire section on Posidonia and other regulations. ‘The Y’ is free, so to obtain your copy just drop […]
