How did it come about? The thinking behind the card was a very simple one. Here at Estela we are no different from anyone else and we get great joy out of saving a little bit here and there. I suppose the card could be compared to the student discount card that many of you may have been lucky enough to make great use out of during your academic years. How do you obtain this card? The card is exclusive to Estela’s clients and can be obtained by either getting in contact with us or coming to introduce yourself personally in our office, where we would be more than happy to explain the card further and share our recommendations. Who is it for? The card is of great benefit to all crew wanting to break the everyday routine of living and working aboard a yacht. Whether you are in Palma for a short stay or are based here for a longer period of time, the card will be of great benefit to you. What benefits does it bring? Due to our ongoing collaborations with a lot of our partners on the island, we managed to negotiate and agree on certain […]
San Sebastián On the 20th January Palma celebrates its Patron, Saint Sebastian, in the late 1500 when the plague was rife on the island. The city was conquered by Carlos I and suddenly the island was cured of the plague they say this is because a new relic was found in Palma. A fragment of Saint Sebastian arm bone which had come in from Rhodes was spirited to Palma by a priest fleeing the advance of the Turks and who happened to pass through Mallorca. For some reason unable to continue on his journey the bone stayed in Palma and thus was seen as divine intervention that saved the city. The festivities start a week before as the Sant Antoni festival is also during this time where demonic devils roam the street whilst surrounded by parades with fire breathing dragons. Defiantly not one to miss. The eve of Saint Sebastian there will be various stages erected all through Palma where live bands will perform all genres of music from traditional folk music to rock, there are BBQs set up where you can bring meat and eat to your hearts content. Enjoy the music by dancing away into the […]

The Triton is a monthly newspaper for the people who earn their living working on luxury yachts. It was first published in April 2004. The main aim of Triton magazine is to be a voice for the community of people who earn their living working on yachts. To give captains and crews the information they need to help them run their boats and manage their careers. Based in Fort Lauderdale, it remains one of the only independent yachting publications in the industry today. Triton is a Greek sea god, the son of Poseidon and Amphitrite. He is often seen as a merman: a man from the waist up, a fish from the waist down. Triton had the power to calm or rile the seas by blowing his conch horn. We liked that as a metaphor for what the best newspapers can do: to deliver news that will dispel rumors and encourage discussion on the issues and trends yacht captains and crew face. The Tritons only distributer in the Balearics is in Palma at the Estela Shipping Offices on Av. Gabriel Roca, nº 37 local C, 07014 Palma de Mallorca. When the yachts arrives into an EU Customs Port coming from an NON EU Port, a CUSTOMS DECLARATION must be done in order to officially declare her entrance In Mallorca the official customs port of arrival is Palma. Once the process has been completed, the vessel can head to any other port in Mallorca. If the yacht has professional crew on board, all crew members must make an IMMIGRATION ENTRY CLEARANCE through the Port Police, even though they are EU or they stay on the yachts The same is required for IMMIGRATION DEPARTURE CLEARENCE. A change has been made to the Custom law, as of the 1st of May 2016. The moment that a NON EU private yacht enters into EU waters; she has a total of 18 months to be in EU waters before declaring herself to the relevant authorities. It is no longer possible to request a bond for the yacht in order to extend the 18 months. Once the 18 months period is completed, the vessel must either pay EU Import VAT or leave EU waters. If any of these requirements are not met, EU VAT will be applicable. Before your arrival, contact our office and we will organise all […]
Imagine you are a yacht owner and you decide to spend a week with your family on board your yacht. During this unforgettable relaxing week, far away from the chaos and civilization, who do you think is in charge of you and your family’s safety? Who is supposed to act in case of en emergency? Would you expect your crew to be prepared and well trained to manage an emergency on board your yacht and in the water? A professional yacht crew is in charge of the safety and the assistance of all the people on board, and only have basic knowledge of CPR and the first aid kits have far too little to ensure the safety and the high quality standard that this kind of ship requires. Yachts today sail around the seven seas, crossing oceans and visiting most remote and unknown zones, practicing different activities on board, on land and in the water, with different people, different rules and in many cases in wilderness areas .
