STP Shipyard Palma to debut Europe’s largest travelift in September STP announces arrival of brand new 1000-ton travelift. Travelift components will be received from july onwards, and assembly will be completed by september. After working hard on its design for over a year, this new travelift will adapt perfectly to the industry’s new needs, significantly enhancing certain technological aspects related to STP’s current 700-ton travelift. With 26 metres long, 12,5 metres wide and 25 metres high: these are the impressive dimensions of what will be Europe’s most important travelift when it comes to size and hoist-out capacity. It will be able to lift motoryachts of up to 57 metres and sailboats of up to 67 metres, with a maximum beam of 12 metres in both cases.

Dear Friends, It is with great pleasure that we present the new 2018/19 edition of Estela’s ‘The Y’ Yachting Handbook. Having launched the handbook at this year’s MYBA and Palma Superyacht Show, we have been overwhelmed with everyone’s positive feedback. This year, we added many more destinations, along with updated regulations, places of interest and things to do, itineraries and important information for Captains, owners and crew. You will find the online version by clicking on the above page, and we hope you enjoy reading it as much as we have loved producing it. Any feedback will be much appreciated, as well as suggestions for the next handbook. If you would like us to deliver a hard copy on board, please let us know and we will be more than happy to drop one off.
After the great success in 2017 we will be producing the new “The Y” Yachting Handbook 2018 Edition. We will be introducing a Chapter solely on Antigua, having just come back from what was an amazing boat show we feel that it is essential for this chapter to be included. We will expand our itineraries in this region as well as information and services that you would need whilst in the Caribbean. Our content will include more itineraries, places to visit, History, Culture, shopping, restaurants, as well as topics of interest. We would also like to inform our clients and partners that as from December 2017 we will be collaborating with Anchor Concierge and Superyacht Support Antigua. Estela Shipping Palma are the representatives of Antigua Yacht Club Marina in Mallorca
We have noticed over the past month when the season is coming to a close or yachts are preparing to leave for the Caribbean many non EU crew members are not realising that they have not correctly signed on or off their Yacht. What does this mean? When you fly into a EU country on arrival you must go with a cosignatory to Immigration and have your passport stamped so you can embark on the yacht, this stops your 90 days being consumed. If you do not do this and you consume your days, you could be classified as an illegal and when you go to the airport to fly home you can have up to a 5 year ban for entering any EU country. If you want us to come on board and make sure that you have everything order contact us at Palma@estelashipping.net or +34 971 722 532 and of course no charge for the visit. More info at pag. 28 of “The Y” The Yachting Handbook
Do you have cash on board, including that of crew and guest that exceeds 10.000€? As of this year all yachts that are coming from outside Spanish waters, on entry must declare all cash on board including that of crew and guests if it exceeds 10.000 euros. It is a simple process you would just need to send the exact amount that is on board and we can process the paperwork before you arrive. This also comes into effect if you are planning on leaving Spanish waters and have more than 10.000€ on board you will have to declare this as well. Next port a non-EU? Is necessary to obtain a Departure Clearence from the authorities. Next port EU? Departure Notice will have to be presented to the authorities. For advice on any of the above matters, please contact us on +34 971 722 532 or via email: estela@superyachts.agency

Each one of us realizes the tremendous destruction and the massive and long recovery road ahead. Most of us have strong connections to the people of the Caribbean and feel a duty to act and contribute. The formation of the SuperYacht Aid Coalition made up of the industry association leaders underscores the urgent need for us ALL to get involved, in a unified way and to make sure the collective industry response makes a statement. A statement that we can do great things together, that we deeply care and are grateful to the people of the affected Caribbean Islands. And the industries collective financial contribution makes a statement that reflects the value and appreciation we have for our Caribbean Island hosts. YachtAid Global has been tapped to facilitate the yachting industries recovery efforts. It is clear that one group needs to advise all that want to get involved so we are not duplicating efforts and we maximize everyones contribution. We spend several hours a day talking to people giving real time situation reports from the islands and in all of these cases we are asking “how can we compliment your program or advise on how best to get contribute”. We should be […]

THE Y / YACHTING HANDBOOK – YACHT CHAPTER PAG. 174 If we have a look to the actual situation in our industry and all the injuries and accidents, unfortunately on many occasions fatal, we can see where the Achilles heel is. If you are in the sea, you must be aware that possible emergencies may arise. There are a few questions that you must know the right answer to in order to set a basic level of safety on board your yacht: Every emergency is a situation in which you have no control over, and eventually it can stem from a lack of preparation. In fact fear of failure, anxiety and confusion can generate chaos and paralyze the victim’s rescue procedures.
