On-Board Health Control Certificate (SSC) now required for all yachts over 400GT

First announced last October, in the Balearics an On-Board Health Control Certificate (SSC) is now a requirement for all yachts over 400GT, private or commercial. Previously, the threshold stood at 500GT.
Yachts below 400GT are exempt, though it may be advisable — particularly for charter yachts — to certify that the vessel complies with WHO sanitary standards.
The SSC covers items such as air, water, aircon, oil and waste systems, medical facilities, food sanitation and bathing facilities.

Vessels over 400GT must be able to present a valid SSC to Sanidad, logged on the SHIPSAN platform.
